I have rarely been impressed by many things out there today but when we sold a system to Dr. Greg Lawton what seems years ago I wasn’t sure that we would be hearing back from them anytime soon. We did have a couple of phone contacts and then a few months ago I got Sifu Fuller’s tape. I was happy to see the anxiousness in his movements and I was also happy to see a bit of nervousness. You see when we are too sure of ourselves, we tend to miss the little things that matter. I am glad that Sifu Fuller mentions his path in his bio as that is what the 5 Forms are, a path and I am happy to see that he has passed the first fork in the road... Congratulations Sifu Fuller. Sifu Ibrao My path into the martial arts started with meditation. My father, a "new age"-thinking body builder in the 1940's and 1950's, taught his children to meditate when they turned six and encouraged anything we wanted to do in the meditative or body-building arts. I worked my way through transcendental meditation, Zen meditation, yoga, and eventually into Tae Kwon Do in the 1970s. Eventually, however, I found a teacher who was the genuine article (Dr. Greg Lawton). He taught me Tai Chi Chuan, first as a meditative art and then as a martial art. I spent more than a decade with Master Lawton at the Blue Heron Academy in Michigan, learning Chi Kung, Tai Chi, Paqua, Hsing Yi, Shaolin Kung Fu, and Kempo. After many years of practice, I had the privilege of learning the rarely taught "secret family style" of Yang Tai Chi Chuan. I have continued my Paqua studies with a Shorin Ryu teacher (Steven Allen) who also knows Paqua at a high level of proficiency. Thus, my own martial arts path started with the softer internal styles and worked its way outward into the harder external styles. I still strive to blend the two in all of my practice. My teacher, Dr. Lawton, encouraged me to continue on with Kempo. Learning the Five Forms has been an important step on this path. In addition to my martial arts life, I also managed to earn B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees in psychology. I am a practicing psychologist and neuropsychologist, and clinical director of a large group practice in West Michigan. I have been married 22 years to a beautiful and wonderful woman (a physical therapist who can treat my aching old martial arts body!), and have two children (neither of whom want to learn martial arts!). For me, martial arts has been exercise, a hobby, meditation, a group of friends, and self-development. May everyone be so fortunate! Thank you Sifu Ibrao for making your system available, and giving me more of a path to follow. Tom Fuller
